so, did she bail before the crisis... did she know? ...just wondering... you probabaly don't know that answer.
thanx anyway.

I have heard only positive things about Ms. Pottieger. I an industry where you hear a lot of negatives, hearing positives is a rarity. Apparently WaMu was a different place while she was at the helm, and if you look back at threads on this forum from 2002 - 06 you will see that most of the appraisers had nothing but good things to say about how they were treated as professionals.

Hopefully she will be one of the positives for the profession. Perhaps her being hired is the beginning of the long awaited "shift to quality"? Only time will tell.

Funny. I'm watching "To Catch a Thief" as I read this thread. It's about a charming ex-cat burgler (Cary Grant) who joined the resistance and redeemed himself but no one believes him including his former accomplises and members of the resistance. There is now a copy cat jewel thief loose on the Riviera and our hero is using his cat burgler experience to catch him (I think it turns out to be "her." - Grace Kelly?)

At first glance, the featured folks at Valuation 2009 are quite impressive. Subsequent glances are less flattering and after some scrutiny... fuhgetaboutit.

It is a recycling of alphabet soup designations intended to solve a problem of their own creation. A mutual admiration society if you will.

The purpose of the forum is to share. All kinds of information have been shared up till now on the forum in a professional manner. If there is an area to debate about an announcement posted on the forum. Up till now, those debates have always appeared to be about differences in the approaches that were publicized in any announcement. In this case, an experienced, professional appraiser who is a very active participant in the forum and who is widely regarded because of the substance of his communications in the forum made an announcement that many of us probably had not been aware of. It is information that is good for everyone to know as we all hopefully work together to solve the challenges of our industry today. In fact, all effort to continue to inform all appraisers of who the leaders are in our industry should be praised so that weare informed about our industry as we are about the properties that we appraise.

In that perspective, I can’t help but ask TIMD354 one question: From a simple announcement for the benefit of many of us who did not know the news—I, too, thought Ms. Potteiger was still at Veros—you must have had some reason to interpret that announcement as an attack on Ms. Potteiger. May I please ask why you would draw that conclusion?

One other question: Isn’t the reason that Washington Mutual, eAppriaseIt and LSI received the publicity they did was that the loan officers at Washington Mutual were dissatisfied with the values they were receiving in the appraisals from those AMC’s so W.M. management got involved ad requested that thse AMC’s use the appraisers W.M was used to using?

It reminds me of Pavlov's dog--any reference to WAMU and a chief appraiser for an AMC or lender is implicitly derogatory on this forum.

On this forum, an announcement is more than "a simple announcement" if it references any number of hot button people, institutions, or issues!

Just sayin'!!!

...Why Doty doesn't say which AMC is reputable and which one has been around for many years, without incident.

I'm sure it was very difficult to hold back the ones (or is it just one?) she and the players she works for think is reputable. AMCs and MB's Suck!

Sincerely,

PS: What is TimD's motivation? Was his 'out of blue' lashing out from his own opinion, or was it strings? Either way, it's very telling how sensitive some are and how well they can take critism (guilty conciousness' usually lash out of the blue).

This is pretty humorous! Defending a post that had questionable purpose and then insinuating the same thing that many assumed was being insinuated in that post. Yes, we have no bananas.

Your response is appreciated. Now, do you have any answers to either question? The first question addressed a personal attack concerning a simple announcement. The second question arose from that thread of that same dialogue? Do you have answers? Or do you just want to cause smiles as a distraction from the issue?
