i was a long time alamode user but i quit them over 5 years ago. i switched to ACI and while there was a learning cure (as there would be with any change in software change) it wasn't that bad.

It just makes me sick to my stomach the thought of having to given CoreLogic another $1000 of my money...

I agree, but unfortunately looks like Titan will be live before Freedom even has a beta release. So if you're set on web based I think core-lamode is in the lead at the moment.

Surprised by the lack of updates from Freedom. Not a peep in my inbox for months. Considering their site still says "Release Fall 2018"....updates may not be their strong point.

I agree, there has been delay after delay with them, it does make you wonder if the software will be problematic or what kind of customer service will they have. ...

I think this quote could be applied to just about any of the software vendors. Alamode has been promising cloud software since before Freedom Appraise was ever mentioned on this forum. Yet it keeps getting pushed back. ACI had a cloud software for a few short months then pulled it off the market and is reworking it. SFREP has been promising a new desktop software for a long time too. Clickforms is working on cloud form filler as well, but to their credit, they don't even bother to make an estimate as to when it will be ready.

So, although, I don't disagree about the concern behind Freedom Appraise. I think we will have to reserve judgment on the software until its release. In the meantime, it may be best to no hold your breath. If you must renew, then you must renew. I know I had to renew against my desires to support Corelamode as well.

good point, however everyone you listed has already had a product on the market for a long, long time and are working on presenting a different platform but still operating today. not quite the same thing comparing established products to vaporware. now add in the fact that appraisers are creatures of habit and HATE change, especially when it comes to software, and it makes waiting for it that much more unattractive. if it had not been for the words and actions of the former owner of alamode i would still be using their software. the switch wasn't easy and i hope i never have to do it again, but i am really glad i got out years and years before corelogic bought it.

That is a good point and something that I wanted to mention as well. The fact that FreedomAppraise is online only and does not have any desktop software is something that needs to be considered in software selection too. But as you mention, the bigger issue might be that they start to look less and less reliable the longer it takes them to get their product to market. However, unless I am mistaken, I believe this is the same company/person that provide the Appraisal Genie software. So they do have some experience with appraisal software. I have no experience with Appraisal Genie to say if this is a good thing or bad thing.

like you i have never used the genie and i never will. i'm sure it has it's place with the appraisers who don't, or can't, do the work on their own but luckily i don't have that problem. i tried the other one (i forget the name) but found it took me longer to use it and verify all it's data than it did to just type the information into my report on my own. maybe it is a godsend for the 2 finger pecking typists out there. i am fearful for appraisers who use products like that (think regression analysis software) - if you can't do the work to begin with how are you going to defend your report if called upon to do so?

x - how did you arrive at your adjustment for ___?

y - that's what the software said to use

that type of excuse has already been addressed and won't be accepted by any board in the land.

Genie completes your 1004mc, reconciliation, highest and best use, trends, effective age, comp grid, and much more than all of our competitors combined.

and people on here wonder how the "skippys" get things done so fast...

call me crazy but i don't want a piece of software doing these things for me. i am an appraiser, it's MY job to do these things. for example i already know that my local MLS does not calculate things correctly when it comes to the 1004MC so what happens when this software plugs in whatever values it spits out, and therefore make my report misleading? or, i could use it and then go back and change everything to make it correct but that takes me back to my first point - faster to do it once on my own.

then again i could be completely wrong about what it does and who uses it.
