I have a Garmin Nuvi 750. 4.3 inch wide screen, touch screen, text-to-speech, etc. I LOVE IT!! Can't live without it. That deal on the 855 is great.

Magellan 3225 (refurb) at Amazon for $76
Has Text to Speech and will do routing

However, if you have lots of new homes/streets in the area, you need LATEST maps, and this one is not for you.
Would do some checking on when next map revision comes out, wait until then, then buy.

I have a MIO, it was a Christmas present from my kids.

Now after two years the battery wil not charge up, so is useless.

I cannot even find the company on line.

I have to correct my previous post.

I just went to Google, and there are lots of listings, maybe there is hope.

Still, the unit is a real battery eater. Has to be plugged in all the time or will run down quickly.

I have the Garman nuvi 200w. I need to download the updated maps which I think is a $45.00 fee. I received it for Xmas in 2007. Love it! I do not know how I was able to appraise without it. Instead of the suction cups, I use velcro and attach on the dash where it is easier to reach and is not a display feature for theives.

David, does yours display 'searching for satelittes' for 15 or 20 mins after you turn it on? Does it ever show you to be blocks away from your actual location? I ask to know if this model is a problem or we just have a lemon. m2:

If you turn a GPS off far away from where you are going to turn it back on, it will have to search for satellites longer. If I am driving, my GPS is on just displaying the map if nothing else. That way, it has its bearings all the time and doesn't have to figure out where it is. If you turn it off in Gwinnett county, for instance, because you don't need it to get home in west Cobb county. The next day when you turn it on, it may take a while for it to search for satellites. I don't think one should ever take more than a couple of minutes even if you don't leave it on but some do. Being a block or two off is not good. I can't imagine why that is except for bad mapping in a certain area. Mine is always right on the money. A couple of times out in the country it has said to turn where there is no street but if you just keep going it figures another way.

No GPS should need 15-20 minutes to lock onto a signal.
You've got a lemon.

Getting ready to plop down about $140 for my first GPS. Anybody else have this model?

Any comments ( + / - ) would be appreciated.

Garmin kicks ***. They are the Google Earth of GPS in terms of driving detail. The maps are the same at all levels, and they are going to direct you where you want to go, no matter how much you pay for any Garmin model. Buy it.

Thanks for all the input!

(Now I'm more confused than when I first posted!!!)
