GFI and FHA

Agreed but HUD does expect the home to meet local & state codes.
Gfi requirements are in the NEC. Have been for years. I have yet to see a state or local code that does not defer to the NEC. Besides. It is a widely known safety hazard. How do you get by that.

Can someone tell me how appraisers are supposed to determine if an outlet is gfi protected if the whole circuit is protected with a gfi breaker? I don’t carry that kind of electrical meters on my inspections and I’m not tripping the whole circuit to see if it works.

A receptacle tester with gfci capabilities is about 20 bucks. But they still trip the gfci in order to test. Only way to test gfci is to initiate a fault.

Way too much liability in tripping a whole circuit with who knows how many computers and electronics to potentially ruin. Seems like a no brainer to me. If you want an analysis of the electrical system hire an electrician. No hung jury on that one.

Only an idiot would plug a computer or other sensitive electronics into a gfi.
