Global Economy Bursting?

A cheap dollar means expensive gasoline. I wish I had a 5,000 gallon fuel tank....and an armed guard to patrol around it.

expensive gasoline will stall the economy. Obama will blame the Republicans who will blame the democrats who will blame the oil companies who will blame the environmentalists who will blame the republicans....

We are doomed to repeat Japan's mistake except as a nation of savers they are better prepared to weather the coming stagflation.

If it were only that simple. Japan wasn't $800 Billion in debt to China and didn't drive the world economy at that time. I'm afraid the ride is going to be much rougher for us than simply a 'lost decade'.

This may get very ugly.

Not only that, we have many countries royally PO'd at us, even after we paid them off with our TARP. Who's really on our side right now?

No and No. Regarding Gasoline: we won't run into 2008 issues of price until next summer, and it won't be worse. The economy will actually be less affected, and in the future gasoline will be less and less a possible pin prick into our balloon of economy.

And the comparison to Japan is false. Just like Europe, the USA set them up with the best possible conditions for a Free Society/Market to succeed after WW2. And, just like most of Europe, they did. The difference between the USA and Japan is the fact that the USA has treated immigration better, overall. The fact that there are millions of people desperately trying to get here is a good thing, a sign of the future prosperity. Japan is failing due to an aging population with no constant source of immigrants.

If the USA manages to fix immigration (As BUSH, MCCAIN, and KENNEDY almost did, but were blocked by idiots, both liberal and conservative) we will be successful where Japan and some of Europe will not be and are not now. I believe that the US will fix immigration, in a form akin to how Bush planned to do it.

And the housing bubble bursting, which was the #1 cause of the financial meltdown, is primarily to blame for most of the current economic problems, at least in the U.S., (with a strong assist from unfunded public pensions.)

And also the loss of jobs in this country. The first wave was those that shouldn't have owned a home to begin with, the following waves are those that are unemployed that are losing their homes.

I thought you had over 1 million views .. .and then it started over again ...... my imagination perhaps ...... but it seemed like somewhere the counter got overloaded ...

... i wish there were a narrative that could walk us out of this mess in the world .....

... perhaps human consciousness will be plastic enough to morph and get around these obstacles of the human condition in such a way ... for that city on a hill to get will drop its chrome .for moist human development ...

.... ...

... I wonder how many earths ther are out there in the universe right now at the same point as this one .......

.... will one of these earths ..... dump "The Grand Dungeon" by Stephen Hawking .... and look into a deeper thread called "the unknowable" .....?

Recently the Obamas, Clintons, and Bushs leave the country along with a fleet of Navy warships. Supposedly on a peace mission? Since when do navy ships represent "Peace"?

Now we have a missile that just launched off the California coast? WTF?:Eyecrazy:

I'm seeing more than a coincidence here. Preemptive evacuation? False Flag ahead?

In reality, Japan has not recovered from the downturn of circa 1990...so they have "lost" two decades. We will be lucky to lose only two decades.

The Japanese failed to prepare for an aging population but preventing immigration is no sin. They have limited resources and limited space. Yes, it has an impact. See above. But limiting immigration is no bigger a factor than the Japanese propensity to small families. And the change in racial demographics in the U. S. has a lot to do with the fact the formerly dominate white anglo-saxons are reproducing at a fraction the rate the Middle Eastern and Hispanic immigrant population is.

Immigration is not going to solve our problem. It is exportation of our brainpower, technology, and our completely stupid effort to be the world policeman that is hurting us.

We need to seal our borders from illegals and the drugs they are trafficking. We need to punish Americans who use drugs and states that promote its use (like California and the other states with "medicinal" mariuana)...what a joke. Marinol with do exactly the same thing medicinally. Let the government produce it and give it away. The reasons given for not using it is worse than lame, they are outright lies. The one and only reason people want weed instead of the substitute pill is for the high... pain, they could give a hoot about it...

When my previous appraisal partner died of cancer she took marinol and it helped her keep food down and increased her appitite as will as reduced the pain. But there was no "high".

Legal immigration could be encouraged and serve this country but our "legal" immigration policy is a joke and an impediment to immigration reforms.

Let the Iranians "protect" Afghanistan.... Replace our troops man for man with Iranians....and watch them suffer. Replace our troops in Iraq with Chinese troops. You don't see the Chinese wasting their resources trying to herd cats...and we are stupid enough to do it. We were in Bosnia and where were the Europeans? They won't even protect their own backyard. Why bother? The stupid Americans will shed their blood for these ingrates.

I can provide a "fix" to the unemployment issue -

decrease the weekly allotment after the first six months to just below the minimum wage level - then all those folks who won't work for 40 hours for less than their unemployment might go get employed.

I have a friend who has been on unemployment for two years - two years - not for lack of work around here, but for lack of work which would pay more than her weekly unemployment check.

And she says - I have been getting unemployment for two years now and I need my money.

Every time I tell her about job openings, she says, ya, they only pay $8.50 an hour.

SO WHAT!!!

As I said, reduce the weekly compensation after six months to below minimum wage paycheck, I bet our unemployment rate goes down a little. Yes, so does the average paycheck, but if housing has adjusted already - sell the mansion, buy something affordable.

Just my two cents.

Oh, by the way - mentioned the high cost of gas yesterday to a local shop owner (used furniture) - he says ya, and they said electing republicans would help -

HELLO - it was the recent printing of money that did this - under the current administration - newly elected folks had no say in the matter!!!!

Yes, prohibition is the answer! We should amend the constitution even!

What is wrong with you?!! Prohibition will never work on things people WANT. Legalize it all, that's the only way to remove the problems caused by illegal drug operations. You can't be that blind not to see it.

That would do it - studies show that a disproportionate number of people on unemployment tend to get jobs right about when their unemployment benefits run out. There's nothing like a kick out the door to get somebody motivated.
