GSE Waiver & Data Collection Data

Seriously, "...the average age of appraisers is about 85..." Really? I doubt that very, very, very much. 60-65 maybe; 85?!?!??, not a freakin' chance.
Can't fault him, the "appraisers are as old as Moses" propaganda has been pushed for years.

I fault him for lack of using common sense, and then publicizing that inaccuracy. Dumb is as dumb does, though, I guess.
Fair enough. I'm a little more forgiving in that no one really knows, but those who have an agenda have always pushed retirement age numbers. Sadly, if the ASC would do its job we would know one way or another.

I'll bet if a person actually wanted the age data, it could be checked out fairly easily.

Appraisal Waivers For Purchases

Our experienced Mortgage Analysts will re-run Fannie Mae’s Desktop Underwriter over and over (because they want to meet the algorithm criteria) – in order to get a “PIW” which stands for Property Inspection Waiver or an Appraisal Wavier.

These are invaluable because they eliminate appraisal valuation risks from the transaction and allow transactions to flow much more quickly and smoothly in general.

Some of the big online refi shops literally bank on appraisal waivers to make their business models work.

... :rof:

I think what the writer meant to say was the average age of appraisers on AppraisersForum.com is 85.
The AVERAGE age? So 1/2 are 75 and 1/2 are 95? or 1/2 are 65 and 1/2 are 105? Demographics don't support that.
I'm not a statistics expert, but that statement is even more fallacious.
Keep diggin' that hole.
