HB 303 - Regulation of Real Estate Appraisers & Appraisal Management Companies

Status
Not open for further replies.
Frank,

It seems like much of the disclosure over fees should come under RESPA. I've been saying that for years. Lenders have gotten away with murder and millions in additional pocket change with that POC game.

I don't see how legislating caps on any business enterprise is going anywhere with what's going on in Tallahassee. Transparency and re-interpreting RESPA rules might be the better approach??

Given the recent changes, re-interpretation would be a good idea. I can't believe they had the stupidity to remove the signature lines from the HUD-1.

I just got my hands on a HUD-1 statement of a property that I appraised two months ago. I took a look to see what the borrower was charged for the appraisal when I looked the appraisal fee was blank. Joyce is right these HUD-1 statements are a complete joke.

Seanate Bill Filed

HB 303 will be discussed during the meeting of the Florida Appraisal Council on Friday, January 22, 2010. Details of this meeting at the link above.

Yesterday, we had conversations with members of the Florida Senate yesterday. Hopefully, we will be announcing a Senate Bill and Sponsor during the Florida Appraisal Council meeting.

Cosponsors of HB 303 are still welcomed. Please contact your Florida Representative and encourage them to sign on.

Talking points concerning the need to regulate AMCs in Florida are offered in two Appraiser Active posts:

Post #1 - 7 Reasons to Regulate Appraisal Management Companies in Florida

Post #2 - 1 More Reason to Regulate Appraisal Management Companies in Florida

If you are interested in seeing this happen, NOW is the time to get on the phone with your friends and colleagues, your State Representative and your State Senator.

Thanks

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a SENATE BILL.

S1552 - Appraisers & Appraisal Management Companies, has been filed by Senator Mike Fasano.

Thank you Frank for all your effort and time. This is a great start!

Thank you Frank for all your hard work with this!

Frank please move to New York

The moment firms dealing in appraisals have a license at stake too, quality of the work moves ahead of price on the priority list.

Good work Frank I am sending Senator Fasano an e-mail as we speak. Thanks again.
