Here Is Why FHA Fees Go Up $150

You're going to have to show me a cite or something.

I can easily show you why I know you're wrong but I'm tired of doing all the work.

:rof:

The fee goes up simply because of all the talking points have finally made so many read the darn standard,

Now competent FHA appraisers have to compete with many more that might have a clue what they are doing simply because they finally read the standard.

.

Nothing has changed in the attic and crawl space observation protocols Tim. The prior term was "inspect the property in it's entirety" and now it's "inspect all...."

Entirety = All

I EDITED MY ORIGINAL POST, THAT WAS A STIP FROM AN AMC.

If you did all those things what is the UW "stipping" you over? Or did they just send you a random, generic blurb to read?

I remember when Fannie introduced the "new" forms in 2004-5, appraisers screamed and hollered and said fees will go up. Then the 1004MC, fees will go up. Most recently CU, fees will go up.

Nothing happened for any of that, and nothing will happen next week with FHA fees.

My fees have gone up! I don't charge anything less than $500 and it goes up from there. Too many appraisers out there are afraid to raise their fees. They shouldn't be. We hold the cards.

I feel that FHA is asking too much from the appraiser, and that this goes well beyond the scope of an appraisal. It also increases my liability as they are expecting me to do the job of a home inspector, which I am not. If they want a home inspection, then they need have a licensed home inspector do the inspection, and not rely on an appraiser for this. I am no longer taking FHA appraisals. I am too old for this sh*t.

^^^ Newbies.

Meh, what are you gonna do.

as they are expecting me to do the job of a home inspector, which I am not.

You keep saying that in spite of the Handbook EXPLICITLY AND REPEATEDLY say the opposite. It's obvious you have not read the new OR the old handbooks. Yet you have a strong opinion.

smh

My point to this thread it doesn't matter if the new requirements have increased or not but that the AMCs and some lenders are going to stip appraisers to death and make things requirements and appraisers are going to either turn them down or charge high fees.
