Hot off alamode press, maybe not exactly ready.

Except that you can always take a month off to learn it - AFTER - it becomes mandatory, instead of torpedoing your $$$ flow while the present system is still functioning. If you've planned right, that is. Or two months off.

Just. Say. No.
Why do you think it damages cashflow to start learning the new system now? That makes no sense.

Has anyone taken any CE that really explains the UAD 3.6 line by line? There are so many unanswered questions about what data is actually needed. That to me is the first step. The next step is learning the software. But unless I know what the requirements of the UAD 3.6 is, using the software becomes an exercise in futility.
I’m in a live class right now, don’t waste your time. It’s just a read through of the GSE materials available online. At this point just keep on doing what you do, hopefully next summer something worth taking will be out there.

Time=$

Time spent learning 'The Abomination' today=Time not available to make $ in the present system.

I could get real cute, but will just add that this is not rocket science.

And FYI, hate to spoil it for everyone BUT per the instructor classes are being developed for each section (SCA, Cost, Income) because reporting will be scrutinized. So I would wait on those classes, this class is a flat out waste of time already.

This is one massive **** show that the GSE's have pulled. Why anyone new would enter this profession now is beyond me. The only thing I can think of is that they are purposely trying to get rid of current appraisers in order for them to march to Washington and say since we don't have enough appraiser, we need to go to exclusively AVM's.

Will the reporting be scrutinized for the dinky fees of the two extremely difficult appraisals assigned a month that are left after the GSEs pushed the alternative values and waivers?
Okay...

In all fairness to the instructor, at this point there really isn't anything more to do than read the published GSE materials.

I'm hoping the classes in development are put together by appraisers who actually work in the field, not connected insta-toot members who haven't produced a GSE report in decades.

The only classes available, go through the required content but no actual “hands on” work. The ASA in Tennessee just had the in-person class, and you can also do one through the online providers now. They all explain what is required.

TOTAL is the only provider to have the report for testing that I’ve personally seen, but others are likely doing the same. Do not wait too long to start preparing. It’s a curve and is best used with current technologies you may need to brush up on, or implement, before it goes into full force.

I am retired/part-time. I am going to evaluate continuing appraisal work based upon the new forms. If I lived in my old county I would just do private work. I did lots of work for estates/trusts, etc. Still get calls to go back. But my new location doesn’t have as many wealthy people for estate/trust work.

I have Total already, and I use their mobile app. Since they are developing that for the new 3.6 I will at least be somewhat familiar with that process. I did talk to one person that works for the appraisal side of a bank, and they expect a lot of appraisers to quit. They are actually a bit concerned. Go figure. They won’t be able to skimp on fees! Although I’m 70, I am in good health and very active physically. I just need something to occupy the brain cells. Use it or lose it. So I might just slog through it. Working for $16 or even $20 an hour at some business just isn’t appealing to me. I’ve been self-employed nearly my entire adult life.

If Alamode is done with all the new forms, etc. by November, then I will do a trial run on my own house just to see how it goes. I also have a friend taking the Mckissock course in a few weeks, and he is going to tell me if it is worth taking. I heard from another friend that took a course, and he said it was worthless. I have to take some CE classes anyway by 12/14.

Any time less appraisers, ain't good for lenders. Good for appraisers.

More confusing the form, better for those who can adapt and outwit the form.

Well, i might agree. But as far as the appraising side, after trying just a few pages, i started to scream no, no, no. So i haven't gotten to the adapting and outwitting the form yet,
But i believe you can do a somewhat template, i started one. Gonna take webinar class soon which i hope helps to ease the form's minutia issues pain.
