You seemed interested in what else might show personal bias. That jumped out at me. Sorry if I misunderstood.

My personal bias is that I had a fantastic supervisor who is known for his ethics and his ability to deal with difficult appraisal problems. I don't see the problem with the system that some do, and I have no need to create a competing poll.

No worries. I was addressing George in that prior post - I wasn't sure if I had answered his question. I'm sure there are plenty of others who find the poll biased and flawed - isn't that required? :)

I'm curious. I see a great deal of posts that involve poor supervision. I'd like to get an idea of just how pervasive it is.

The problem is Wendy, the skippys and their mentors generally don't post here. There may be a few but not enough to draw a definitive conclusion. Knowing what I know in my local market, it is fairly rampant. Bad "Mentors" breaking every rule under the sun.

Yeah, it isn't a poll 'til the first person calls it flawed. :new_smile-l:

Push Poll

...

Does this really fit that definition?

From Wikipedia:
A push poll is a political campaign technique in which an individual or organization attempts to influence or alter the view of respondents under the guise of conducting a poll.

I think the supervisor deal is not a good thing. This poll is simply to see if that is really supported or is just a product of my experience. It has no agenda outside of my own curiosity.

lack of supervision ╪ bad appraising

The value of supervision imho is overrated. Ditto for college degrees, additional education [which is now being used as 'proof' that the industry knew there was a problem before the subprime...i.e- pointing out that educational requirements were increased Jan 1, 08. as though that was an industry reaction to poor appraising.]

I know that you have to be certified to supervise trainees NOW and I hope that I will soon change my status, but I don't know that I will take on a trainee until my kids go to college (about 10 years from now).

Anyway, I assisted my mentor in the supervision of a (maybe last?) trainee, which was exhausting! I was determined to provide training superior to what I received. We worked diligently on reports, I provided written reviews and recommendations. She was very appreciative of my efforts, so after six months, she scooted out the door...became a realtor.
