How Do You Identify Yourself As An Appraiser?

Only in the bad parts of "Jersey" ... everywhere else its black shoes and white socks ... and apparently in some instances with magnetic signs on their vehicles loudly professing .. APPRAISER.

(wonder if they put out those orange cones while they are working like the phone company does)
 
How about an outfit with programmable lighting? If you are inspecting an income property that day, you could input to flash the estimated cap rate for properties with similar attributes and expense ratios, etc.

For a residential transaction, you could program in moving text that says, "Please don't assume your neighbor is having his home appraised. I might be measuring it for sport.:rof:

Hey, that is a great idea, those orange cones would come in handy while taking street scene photos.:laugh:

I think you may be right about what they wear in Jersy and other parts of the country, but I hear that some in the Carolinas may even wear more bizarre attire...I'm getting visions of t-shirts with those southern witticisms, tinfoil hats and not much else...:rof::rof:
 
I work tough neighborhoods. I dress accordingly.

Magnetic signs?...Hats?.....:rof::rof::rof:
 
A great many years ago, I was a loan manager for the Federal Land Bank.
We operated primarily in our own little area, but there were overseers who came around occassionally.

When they did, we traveled around the area to see some of the current sales, new loan properties etc.

On his first visit, we were driving along a road, and he decided that he wanted to go see some one that had long ago been associated with our office. To get to the person,s property,we needed to turn around.

I pulled into the next drive way to make my turn around. He said "Don't ever pull into peoples drive to turn around.

He said, everyone around here knows that you are in the loan business, and when they see you in the drive, they might think that person whose drive you turned around in is getting a loan. The way to do is to drive past the drive, then back into the drive.

That way it is safer, and no own thinks you are going to that persons home.
Peoples opinion of borrowing was a lot different now than it was then. But the idea is still valid for a lot of people.

I still back into drives to turn around, and I don't put a sign on my shirt or my vehicle to indiate that I am someway involved on the owner of the property borrowing money

OK, but I disagree. I think "Your Appraisal Co" name and Logo stitched onto a nice polo or business shirt looks professional and instantly identifies you to wary homeowners & to others. Plus, "uniforms" are tax deductable...

Anyway, what do you think about it, or use in your business? Also, what about car magnets or stick-ons, or other public advertising?

I was thinking of a T shirt with my avatar on the front , should scare borrowers from asking questions :rof:
 
peace of mind

I have shirts with my company name. More often than not I go out to a property and the homeowner that greets me is a female. I think the shirts give them an extra assurance that I'm not the local burglar knocking on the door. I have been on the other side and I would feel uncomfortable letting someone into my house if they were dresses like a bum.
