In Florida, in the 1950 to 1970 time frame, one of the the most popular windows were called Jalousie. Still very common to see, especially in garages and utility rooms in homes where owners have changed the windows in conditioned areas.
Also, don't forget that a window does not have to open to be a window. You could have fixed glass windows of many descriptions. One would be "clearstory".
Perhaps (in Florida due to Hurricane code requirements) it is more important to be able to ascertain the type of glass, with regard to impact resistance. They can be rated from sub 90 MPH to 150+ MPH, and are more expensive as you go up. There can be value differences with better impact resistance in the windows, if for no other reason, for significantly lower homeowner insurance rates for better rated glass.
