Buy a new one, OR.... try the HP app for smart phones/tablets.

I was reading calculator nerd websites as I wanted a new 17bII, and they indicated the latest models are much cheaper/ less reliable. The amazing thing may be that there are calculator nerb websites!

I think mine (bought about 19 yrs ago), got stuff spilled in keyboard.

I have a 12C that I bought a few months ago. So far, it works fine, but the keys don't have the quality feel that my older one had. Hard to describe - just doesn't feel as "robust."

I also have the official HP12C app on my phone and tablet. It cost $15, but I love having it handy when I travel. The are other HP12C knockoff apps, but the real one works much better, IMO.

Mine's from the 90's. I don't remember ever changing batteries. I only use it for arithmetic these days. I use computer based stuff for anything financial or statistical. In my bank days it was more of a work horse. I recall being in a panic more than once when misplaced.

Out of curiosity, I pulled mine out of the top drawer, haven't used it in years, but the batteries are still good. I've never liked the HP12C, every time I see one they remind me of a G-Man. :- )

If you take AI Advanced Income Cap, you'll wear out those batteries!

By the time I can fish my phone out, turn it on, swipe to unlock and find the app, I am done with the 12C

I find that the place of manufacture on my 12C's have varied a lot. Brazil, Malaysia, and the last 2 from China

Andro 12C by Elvis Pfutzenreuter.

Free or $1.99 with no ads. Offers audio or haptic feedback. Pay the two bucks. Best one out there.

I was working magic and raising eyebrows when I was crunching numbers with this thing when I bought my new CRV. Down to the penny accurate. They almost fired the finance guy and hired me on the spot. LOL.
