Hurricane Helena devastation in NC!

I'll bet it costs $200 Billion to correct the damage
The RC will toot their horn and offer loans and appear to do great things. But despite the RC claiming to spend only 10% of raised funds upon themselves, Charity watch gives the number at 25%. So only 1 in 4 bucks gets to the people who need it. Almost 100% of Salvation Army funds goes to charity.
Who is on the ground? I am watching people crying and pleading for help on Fox Business; they say nobody has sent help yet.

They cannot get there. They are still hunting bodies and trying to cut trees off the roads. And roads are washed out. Electricity is off and cannot get restored until they get the trees out of the way. When Oklahoma got hit by an ice storm 20 years ago it took six weeks to restore power in the more isolated parts of the state and that was on pretty flat land. It took a month to restore power after our Memorial Weekend storm. And they are still working on it. They are staging about 30 bucket trucks in town 5-10 miles south of the devastation and roofing crews are working 7 days a week yet.
Still looks like this in places just a couple weeks ago.

Turn off FOX and watch other news

They are sending help; it is a remote area, and if roads are washed out, how do you think the help is supposed to reach people? And FEMA is a large agency, and there is a certain amount of red tape they have to go through - send $ to the RC; I have never heard of what Terell is talking about. Salvtation army is not a disaster response org, the RC is always one of ht first on the scene in disasters.

It takes a while to mobilize help -I live in FL and live through Andrew, and it is 3-5 days before help starts arriving. We had the National Guard here, curfews, etc, for months. IDk why the people who live in these remote areas esp as they were warned, why did so many not have a stock of bottled water and some food at least - we can not rely only on being rescued - I feel terrible for them of course, having lived thrign it and seen if first hand - I volunteered a lot for months after Andrew and in every storm, local volunteers and people /neighbors helping each other are the best -

It was just supposed to be rain. Who would have thought a hurricane would bring in that kind of damage 500 miles from where it entered land and up 3500 ft up the mountains.

There should be a massive military exercise with crane helicopters dropping supplies to these people. This stuff should be frontloaded into these areas subject to these categories of storms.

I have been to Asheville and Boone NC when I was like 15 years old with a friend and his rich daddy and mom. We stayed on top of a mountain somewhere. We were wearing shorts at the bottom of the mountain and it was freezing cold when we reached the top of the mountain that night. Strange for a hurricane to do that much damage away from the shore. I remember when we went how pretty the country was there.

With loans. SA is much lower key. RC spends 25% of every dollar donated on administrative costs. SA almost zero. Most good charities are running 10% range. Walmart, Tyson etc. will step up with donations of items and food as well. Another worthy charity is Search Dog Foundation.

The death toll keeps rising. People trying to reach loved ones are getting almost like we may not see them again.

A friend of mine was up helping yesterday, and they found 40 bodies in his area alone. So many people are missing. It's just hard because all the systems are not up and running.
Boone is a very beautiful town. I go riding up there with my motorcycle all the time. They have a nice university up there.

That is bad. That is worse than losing the house or whatever.
