Um, that's defective drywall. And for anyone who hasn't had the pleasure, the smell of match sticks is a big clue.
I Chinese drywall was mainly used in the south.
To Mejappz's point.....ridiculous stips that prove these AMC people have no lines on their brains....then the next day waive a multi-million dollar property based on photos from a PDC.....it's more than aggravating.

A little trivia: Former Saints coach Sean Payton's multi-million dollar home was built with Chinese drywall. Wonder if a trained PDC guy/gal would have noted the smell?

99% of appraisers wouldn't know Chinese Drywall from Mexican Drywall. Appraisers and data inspectors are not trained to know the difference and even myself whose family has built over a hundred new homes wouldnt know just by walking through a new freshly painted home.

It's ridicules to even try to make an appraiser liable to report if it is Chinese
Made. Hire a expert if you want to know don't as someone who doesn't know.

Hint, we're joking.

I used to get that stip frequently. I always stated it was unknown. Of course, I was given no background on what to look for or that Chinese drywall smelled like burnt matches, or sulfur.

I wish the contractors that Trump ripped off would have put Chinese drywall in his hotels....

You're supposed to open the drawers and examine the silverware for signs of discoloration… I wonder if that's in the PDC protocol…
No but I've had apprasers report bathtubs being used as dirty laundry hampers and closets being used for computer server equipment not hanging clothes in.

One reported country kitchen cabinet doors with poor design where glasses and dishes could fall out in a earth quake. So one examining silverware for discoloration as being a health and safety issue wouldn't surprise me in the least bit. There's many goofy appraisers out there in the field who are also Hoa Karens after hours.

That used to be in the inspection protocol of some relocation clients that I have. Haven't seen it in several years though.
