I really hate Chicago (as a City) has gotten such a bad rap with gang land killings. It is a world class city. Most of these murders are happening in concentrated areas.

Data shows over 100,000 move out of Illinois recently. The most given reason? High taxes. Sales taxes are 10 percent and most of us living in descent areas of Cook County pay over $1,200 per month in real estate taxes. I love Chicago but do not intend on retiring here. Way to costly.

Weather is good most of the year. Not.

There are plenty of low cost places you can retire to.

WOW! property taxes for most properties i appraise here in Phoenix area are below $1200 per year.

Just got done appraising a SF property in a typical Grayslake subdivision. Home was a little over 2,400 SF, nothing fancy. Taxes were $11,800 a year.

That's insane, but it's completely common.

Our property tax is more like $200 per month. You guys have an extra zero on there.
And they say I pay a sunshine tax.

What are you paying for? Freezing your butt off tax and salting the road to kill your car bodies tax?

Chicago does have the best pizza.
