"Inflation is coming down"

I cut my own hair, - it’s not going to look good anyway at my age if it is as short as I like it. It has to be long to lay down and control. Yea, short - but with stiff wax to be able to somehow part. It is as if each of the hairs on my head wants to go in a completely stubbornly different direction. Oh well - just let them have their way!
I think I look better with longer hair (grew up in hippie Berkeley) but my wife likes it when I have shorter hair.
I feel like with longer hair I look younger.
When I saw my tenant with a ponytail, I thought he looked good and hip.
At the gym, I see some youngings with tattoos. I think I would look good with Samoan tattoos on my legs (not on my arms since I like to wear shirt sleeve/polos while doing appraisals).
The trick of course is just to wear a MAGA cap in public! It WILL save you money, in more ways than one.
Some collect shoes (well I do also) but I have whole collection of caps and outdoor hats. Oddly, I don't have a Mickey hat.
Caveat: I really just wear an REI cap of one sort or another - which also helps keep the deadly sun off my face.
I try to match my caps colors with my clothes and shoes. Blue cap to match my Blue shoes.

Not practical for me since I still have a full head of salt and pepper hair at age 70
When I have short hair, my head shows more of my white hair. I look so old.
When I was younger, homeowners would ask me how long I been appraising. I took that as an offense implying I look too young and inexperience and don't know what I'm doing.
Now they ask if I'm familiar with the neighborhood since they heard of outside appraisers not familiar with their area.
Is it only me? Do they question your knowledge of area?

At least they got insurance in risky Florida. I'm still looking for an insurance company for my commercial property. My most prime location and can't find insurance. Doesn't make sense.

All my years, I never experienced the risk adverse insurance companies have now. Before it was easy to find reasonable insurance.

Recent data is showing inflation didn't increase from last month. First time since November.
If it's a sign inflation is going down, interest rates will start falling and economy going up.
Good timing for Biden's reelection.

For California, I think something else is in the wind. Elon Musk sold all of his property in CA. Many others have left. Word is going around about signs of another big earthquake. I wonder if some people with good connections have better information, - if the state is trying to quell information that would create some kind of panic.

Spooky.

But, oh well, probably just my paranoia. There are enough other reasons to leave, I suppose. Although I can think of good reasons to stay.

Exciting Developments: Tesla Acquires Significant Acreage in Kern County

Dear Valued Clients and Community Members,

We are thrilled to share some exciting news that highlights the dynamic growth and innovation happening right here in our region. Tesla, the global leader in electric vehicles and sustainable energy, has made a substantial investment in Kern County, purchasing four parcels equaling 204.19 acres along the I-5 corridor at Stockdale Highway, Highway 46, and Highway 58. The price of this acquisition was over $21 million dollars. This strategic acquisition marks a significant step forward in Tesla’s ambitious plan to build a pioneering electric big rig charging network stretching from Texas to California.

Tesla's Vision for an Electric Trucking Future

Despite facing a setback with federal funding, Tesla is moving ahead with its vision to revolutionize the transportation sector. The company had sought nearly $100 million from the Federal Highway Administration’s Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant program to support its project, known as TESSERACT (Transport Electrification Supporting Semis Operating in Arizona, California, and Texas).Though the grant was not awarded, Tesla remains committed to this ground breaking initiative.

What Does This Mean for Our Community?

The establishment of a first-of-its-kind electric semi-truck charging corridor holds tremendous potential for our local economy and environment. Key benefits include:

  • Economic Growth: This project promises to bring jobs and infrastructure improvements to Kern County, fostering economic growth and development.
  • Environmental Impact: By enabling long-distance and regional electric trucking, Tesla’s network will significantly reduce emissions, contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment for all.
  • Innovation Hub: Kern County is poised to become a pivotal player in the green transportation revolution, attracting further investments and technological advancements.

The Road Ahead

While Tesla did not secure federal funding in this round, the company is exploring state funding opportunities and remains optimistic about future rounds of the CFI program. According to Rohan Patel, former VP at Tesla, some sites along the route are viable even without federal support.

We are proud to witness such transformative projects taking shape in our region. As always, our team at Central California Appraisals is here to provide expert insights and support for all your commercial and residential appraisal needs. Stay tuned for more updates as this exciting development unfolds.
