Tri-State gas prices spike to $3.19. When will it end?

Price of gasoline hits highest level in 8 years

CINCINNATI — Just when it seemed gas prices across the Tri-State might have peaked, they've jumped again to their highest level in 8 years. It's just the latest sign of the inflation that's hitting us everywhere.

If you are still finding gas for under $3 a gallon in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, consider yourself lucky! Pump prices around the Cincinnati area spiked late Thursday to $3.19 a gallon.

up up and away. thanks joe :rof: :rof::rof:

I got cheaper gas around here at $4.19/gallon using credit card ($4.14 cash). I was happy until I realized I could have gone to Costco gas tomorrow at $4.09/gallon ( cheapest around).

$2.77 for regular unleaded in TX, $4.31 for regular unleaded in HI.

I never understood the big deal about going out of one's way to get the cheapest gas prices. If you are saving 5 cents per gallon even if you get 20 gallons you are saving one dollar, and if you use gas to go our of your way it could negate or cost more.

I just came back from take out of my favorite chicken dish.
During pandemic (was that early this year), I paid $21.
Now it costs me $29 (I had to have it). Why did it go so much? I got grumpy.
Started thinking, did I raise my appraisal fee by that much. I think I did.

By $8, or 38%? ;)

The Fed said it's temporary and prices should get back to normal.
If not, we're heading to economic trouble.
It's going to be a long slow process. The chicken issue relates in part to Tyson et al seeing much higher grain prices and added expenses in their processing plants for updated ventilation, barriers and slower line speeds due to fewer employees, fewer inspectors, and high absentee rates. The beef situation is worse and likewise hogs. Same feed issues. $7 corn means doubling the price of growing out stock to marketable weights. Tyson also screwed up trying to pacify the food Nazis who didn't want them to vaccinate chickens for a common protozoa disease, so they tried to develop a coccidiosis resistant bird...marginally failed on 2 fronts. The mortality rate is higher and the hens that produce the eggs for the hatchery are slower to come to their egg laying and produce fewer eggs.

Meanwhile truckers are scarce as hen's teeth with some short haul truckers charging $60 an hour to drive....plus, fuel surcharges kicked in when diesel hit $3 a gallon. My garbage hauler took $2 off the charge for several years. Three months ago that fuel charge got added back to my monthly bill....10%. That is real identifiable inflation. When it hits $4, add another $2 a month.
