I have a set of the large Cross pens and pencils. I usually sign with the silver fountain pen using black Parker Quink. I carry the ballpoint with medium point in my coat pocket when I go to meetings. I use the pencil from time to time at my desk. Normally I take a .7mm Pentel "clicker" pencil on appraisal inspections. Works great.
I have gotten to the point of having the software "autosign" the reports and "autostamp" my certification. The NCAB says we have to have a signed copy in our file for stoopid reasons. I tell lenders that all reports are copies of the original which stays in my file. Whoa! 8)
I love my expensive pens and pencils. I've got a really nice watch I wear on special occasions.
Mechanical pencils in the field: Pentel with the side click. I buy them in a three pack and put the 2 extras in the glove box. 3 usually last about a year before I breake/loose them. Use them only for sketch. Field notes are done in ink. Paper Mate Flexgrip for notes. We buy them by the box. There are always 2 or 3 in each jacket and an additional 2 or 3 in the car.
Only digital signature used in our office. Pens for the desk are any one that I can get my hands on. Generally have a choice of 15 to 20 laying on the desk somewhere.
I buy pens are hand outs in support of my marketing effort for my business. I have found a really nice one for about $1.50 each in quanitites of 100 or more.
It's maroon with gold trim, looks quite expensive..but isn't. Get wonderful comments about it from my clients. Has company name and phone number on the barrel and on the cap it says "Teamwork".
I have tried the larger ones with a rubber grip which feels good to the hand but are too large to get into a check book or small note book. Paper Mate makes a nice pen and pencil set for about $6.
For years I used nothing but Cross Pens engraved with my name. Seems I always lost them. Now that I use cheap pens they never disappear. For my field work, I have a clip board with two velcro fasteners...one for a highlighter (my inspection form is a check off list). The second is a blue cheap felt tip for my notes and measurements. In fact, buying a box of them today..lasts about two months per pen.
One of my trainees bought me a custom made pen in real teak wood. It is really beautiful but I never carry it for fear of losing it. It is rather large too...guess I am into small writing instruments.
Along those same lines would be interested in knowing who uses a small tape recorder for field notes?????? I have Pocket Total and a Velo 500 but have not taken the time to learn to use it.
Has anyone else had a lender tell them..."Electronic Signatures are not Original Signatures and we don't accept them...send us two paper copies with original signatures."?
so I prints out my electroniccally signed product using the fancy blue 'lectric signature and off it goes... I have NEVER had one single call back on one of those 'original' copies
I'm OK with two copies but three gets me in trouble:
neglecting to sign one or more of those addl forms disclosures, certifications extra certifications and BS pages - seems I don't have enough fingers to count three copies worth of addendum signatures )
