Sitting at your desk, crunching data, and providing the most probable price. What is an appraisal service then?
Agree.... but it's not their money they're Lending.... so what do they care? They just want the most profits.Just because a client is willing to accept something doesn’t make a good policy.
The same boards that won't even make an announcement that they're in disagreement with the AMC model that's developed in the last 15 years since the hvcc? Those dudes? It’s up to the license holders board to set the standards.
Hey man, I'd be up for a nationwide appraiser strike against AMC's along with press releases to Major Media Outlets alerting the home owning/buying public of what is really going on. I posted a sample letter here a couple different times.... no one's up to banding together for the greater good of the profession.Maybe that’s what leadership in this profession really thinks - all that matters is the signature. I think if all you’re doing is downloading comps from an MLS pushing a button and have a computer come up with all your adjustments, you’re violating a whole bunch of ethics, rules, and standards. But if appraisal boards don’t give a ****, maybe that’s what I’ll do too.
So, do you drive slow in the fast lane with everyone passing you, flipping you off on the way by and getting all the work? Or, do you speed up and get some work too? Sounds like you made a decision in your last sentence.
