Irritating repeat calls from internet directories

The toner scam has been around for years. Someone will call, get a name and just ship out product and hope someone just pays the invoice. I was the manager of a business where someone shipped the stuff you put on concrete floors to hold down the dust. They sent an invoice for $700+. We were buyng it locally for about $40.00.

Got into a huge shouting match with some a-hole from New Jersey. Apparently they recorded the conversation with an employee, asking questions about the weekend, football, etc. They edited the recording to make it sound like he agreed to purchase his overpriced crap.

I told the guy to issue a pick-up slip as I was putting his stuff out on the curb. Never did pay the invoice.

The Yellow Pages Directory crap isn't necessarily one single company calling. There seem to be many, many that are trying this scam.
Caterina I used to get annoyed too by those pesky telemarketing calls, but with this down market, I actually look forward to them. I’ve had them call me the advertising manager, the wireless decision maker, once I was even called the human resources director. All those titles sound far more dignified than appraiser. I don’t purchase their products, but they give sure my ego a boost. :)
