400 miles in a day is about my limit now. That would mean about 4 potty stops...double that if wife is with me. I'd rather fly when I can.

Drove from 10 am to 4 am from Cortez, CO to home in NW AR last year. 1000 miles. It was snow packed roads from Wolf Creek to Woodward, OK. 10 below on La Veta Pass. But I like to drive...just not that much but I was afraid of being snowed in. My GMC Terrain AWD was absolutely the most sure-footed vehicle I've ever driven...but I do admit a little nervousness between Trinidad and Springfield with 30 mph gusts blowing snow across the road.

Chains were the thing back long ago. I guess they are still used. Idk. We had an LTD with a 429 engine. She was good in chains. She was quick without chains too. She was a two door. I think she had the headlight covers that rotated up when you turned the lights on. We had more than one Ltd and one of them had rotating headlight covers.

Snow breaks...serves two purposes, the first stops snow from drifting across the highway and secondly, cattle can get out of the wind. I still have two sets of chains but haven't used them in years. Was a must when elk hunting. Would chain up my 73 Bronco on all four wheels...could go almost every where.

Them old broncos are a beast. They look good too!!!

Have never used tire chains. But have driven in snow, done donuts in snow, got stuck in the snow.
Would rather not do that again.
