I know that many of you have had your difficulties with Alamode, and some (fewer) seem to love the service.

My own complaints have generally centered around their first answer when I have a technical problem: "Its YOUR system". Sure enough, one to three days later the problem disappears, and I have done nothing in the meantime to adjust my system/software/service provider.

BEFORE I start complaining again, Please Help Me Out.

When I click on "IDC" to obtain census and flood information (a feature I paid an upgrade for), I get ONLY the census, NO flood information. This service was working fine up until about a four days ago.

Is anyone out there having the same difficulty????

You can't imagine how happy I am to have this happen during the lowest interest rate period in 30+/- years.

Will appreciate any and all feedback. I sort of HOPE that its' me, and its a fixable problem. I would hate to think that I just signed on for another year of service and am getting Less service without having been informed of this by Ala.

I know from having called tech support that they were having problems with their map server about a week or so ago. I was getting wrong flood map info. Thank goodness I know some of my flood map panel # by heart.

I assume that they have fixed the problem. Have you downloaded the most recent updates?

I'm a happy alamode user.

Barbara,

No problems here. (Every time I say that I knock wood!)

For the last two weeks I've had assignments in areas where I was unfamiliar with the flood map panels so I did a lot of double checking the almode returns. So far, so good!

I hope you find an easy fix. Good luck. 8)

Barbara/Wally,

Have you ever tried the FEMA site for a back-up? They have on-line flood maps that can be viewed for free by entering the address and zip code.

Neat stuff.

Barbara,

Yes, we've had the exact same problem with IDC for over a month now. There always seems to be some little tic going on with that program; it's like a drunk uncle we have to put up with...on a daily basis. It's annoying, but despite it's faults, we're familiar with it (and the devil you know is better than the devil you don't...something like that).

Would be interested to know if it works out on its own, or if you have to call tech support. Last time I called them, I swear the guy was taunting me.

Ben -

I would appreciate that FEMA address if you have it handy.

Thanks!

Ken,

http://web1.msc.FEMA.gov/webapp/commerce/c...come.d2w/report

When the page comes up. CLick on "Map Search" to the right.

Enter your subject's address. When the flood map panel stuff comes up,,over on the right is "View" Click on that to see the actual map. You can zoom in for details Or use your mouse to drag a red window over your subject area to see just that part. Mess around, it's pretty neat,..... and free...

Ben

That is undoubtedly the single most useful information I have ever received from this forum. And that's saying an awful lot!

Thanks, Ben!!!!

BarbaraNJ, Been having the same trouble for the past few days. Did have a little box that popped up and admitted it. I always double check the maps anyway so it hasn't really bothered me. I do not pay for Alamode's FEMA maps because I already have the maps on CD. They haven't changed here... yet. Besides, I always use a disclaimer regarding the Flood Zone. "Subject to Flood Certification and current survey to verify site information."

Exxxxcellent, Ben! Something useful from the government. Our tax $$$ at work. Thanks! 8)
