Mess around, it's pretty neat,..... and free...

Ben

Ben,

Thanks for pointing this out. I used to visit the FEMA site quite often but haven't had much need until now.

Next question. Why is anyone paying for flood information from the likes of an Interflood or "who ever" when they can get this for free??? It's quick, easy to use, and has all the info you need.

Muchas Gracias, Ben :!:

Great timing too, my Floodsource is about to run out. I have paper maps for my home county, but haven't purchased the maps for the five other counties as of yet.

Maybe Wayne could lock the URL in a post at the top of this forum so everyone could see it and take advantage of it?????

Barbara,

Our flood data provider, TransAmerica, was having a technical issue with their flood data servers this weekend. We were unable to get the problem corrected until about 6:00 am CST this morning. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Ben

Done!

Ben thanks again for the link....another trick for placing the flood map directly into a report......after you enter the address and the map loads, then click the PRINT icon on the bottom left....after that page loads, do a right side mouse click, then copy and paste it right onto your map page. My next mission is how to reduce the amount of yellow ink it uses. Am I frugal or what? :-)

Once again, I am reminded how thankful I am for this site.

While I'm at it, I am also thankful for the contributions, support and depth of knowledge of those who are a part of this forum.

Specifically: Liz, Wally, Ben, Keri, Pamela, and Michael---you have all been helpful, as usual.

My ongoing complaint is that I can find out MORE at this site than trying to get a definitive answer from Alamode. By the way, I did Finally get the "pop up" box Pamela speaks of which warns of trouble with the flood map provider. As of this moment, the site is still out of commission. It is unfortunate that one can go crazy and waste precious time trying to determine the cause of the problem when a simple email notification to all users the Instant that Alamode knows there is a problem would at least save them (and us) many calls. After all, when my annual membership was about to expire, I got CONSTANT instant messages warning me to renew.

Thanks for all the links to federal and other sites.........from reading the posts, it seems that many others have been helped as well.

And finally, THANKS to WAYNE for one of the most helpful and informative (and free) sites around !!!!

Ben,

Nice link, but I have a question. How can you tell if your subject is in a flood area. I see the map number, but I cant tell if the area is shaded for a flood zone or not. Thanks

ala mode changed something with their maps, geocoding, and redundancy. i had similar problems and downloaded update 58. problem seems to have disappeared.

however, im still furious with ala mode's tech support over updates. dont have, want, or need valueit, pocket total, pocket apex, canadian forms, etc. why do i have to take these updates?? i was at update 52 and had to go up to 60 to get the maps i needed as well as the useless stuff. alamode updates frequently cause an already unstable windows o/s to become more so. im always leery of these updates and try to avoid them if system running smooth. i complained a little to tech support about the lenght of the updates and the inability to pick and choose form updates. it was suggested that the solution was to get dsl.
