I just received this from the state when they renewed my license just today.

Effective January 1, 2026, all applications must complete a 7-hour course on the topic of Valuation Bias, Fair Housing Laws and Regulations. Thereafter, all applicants must complete a course on Valuation Bias, Fair Housing Laws and Regulations of at least 4 hours every two years,

The Biden era is over. This is now plain dumb because USPAP classes are already 80% about bias nowadays. As though we need a seven hour indoctrination class renewed with inculcated anti- discrimination inoculation for four hours every two years.

The Inquisition continues.

There will be exorcisms to banish all the demons that torment the appraiser’s biased soul.

On the one hand you're not wrong. On the other hand our occupation hasn't been singled out. Most knowledge based occupations are getting the same.

It's political, not personal. It's going to happen anyway so we might as well just lay back and get it over with.

It’s going to eventually reach a point where the only courses on appraisal topics will be electives where no CE credit is given.

If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. Already have mine on the books. Took it live, the comments and debates made the 7 hours only seem like 6.

Similar classes will be required in most... maybe all... states.

Pretty sure all, didn't this roll down from TAF/AQB? And IIRC an additional 4 hr refresher will be required every cycle in addition to the 7 hr USPAPPY refresher.

so they don't want you to lowball...a bankers dream :rof:

Been a NY requirement for awhile now.

Yes... but states are the final authority in licensing and education requirements. They almost always play along with AQB.. but the law doesn't require them to.

Don't changes in educational requirements for licensed professionals need to be based upon documented Need for the curriculum to change? There MUST be a rationale for **** like this to happen, especially a matter that virtually EVERY SINGLE PRACTIONER IN THE USA defines as illogical....
