Laser Measure Question

I don’t disagree, but if we’re switching to an app just for the sake of switching to an app, we all, including the GSEs and lenders, need to understand the square footage accuracy should not be a big concern anymore. Which is pretty much a 180 from what the real world real estate market is. GLA is everything in real estate. And you really can’t claim you want measurements to be down to the nearest 10th of a foot and then claim you’re OK with being 100 ft.² wrong.

A few feet up or down does not affect value - but large variances do.

None of the scan to sketch utilities are ANSI compliant. They are ANSI aligned. As the appraiser, you are required to provide a sketch and calculations that are ANSI compliant (in those situations where it is required). Currently, if the appraiser does not perform an exterior and interior inspection of the subject property then, ANSI is not required. Sketch to scan could be used for a deskop, driveby, or hybrid.

I have the older model with the red dot, which works best either inside or in the shade/ cloudy days. I heard that the green dots work better outside, but the batteries die much quicker. Do you think that is the case?
I can't say, comparatively, but battery life hasn't really been a problem. Also, I probably don't pay as much attention since my wife bought 100 batteries at Costco a couple years ago... My only dislike, actually, vs. my Disto, is that it won't fit in my shirt pocket without some effort. Other than that, it's great.

I can't use my laser outside unless it is really cloudy day and then I can't see the dot sometimes still. But I love it inside on 1.5 and/or 2.0 stories or basements or 3 stories and garages/storage rooms..........

It is way faster on those inside areas. I want to say it will only do 50 ft but I don't really use it on that long of an area anyway. I have 100 ft fiberglass tape and a 25 ft steel tape that will reach out about 8 feet using both arms. When a closet is packed that I have to measure, I will use the steel tape. The steel tape is fast on short distances. It self retracts so it don't take long to get the measurement.
