Lawsuit Alleges Appraisal Institute Has Given States Fraudulent Test Results For Years

Why did ChatGPT say the opposite? Well, I wasn't specific enough in my original question - I am guessing. I asked: "Can the BREA audit the Appraisal Institute?" Well, in general, it can't, for example it has no authority to audit it's tax records. I should have asked: "Can the BREA audit the Appraisal Institute as a course provider for appraisers in the State of California." [ I assumed that was implied. ]

Now just imagine up to 50 state appraiser boards showing up on their (the AI's) front steps, demanding audits. Looks like maybe someone gets their revenge, if nothing else. This could possibly put them out of business or cripple them financially for years to come.

IRL it wouldn't be 55 jurisdictions. It would just be some of the jurisdictions where their passing score is higher or lower than the default pass rate in the course provider's programs. That won't be all of them, just some of them.

They might have more to worry about WRT course participants whose score was enough to pass at their state but not enough to pass the course provider's default pass rate.

If someone files a complaint against an appraiser, the investigation isn't limited to just the complainant's concerns; a full review takes place. Maybe the same standards should apply.

wasn't parks in charge over the states for licensing requirements.... :ROFLMAO:

The ASC supervises the states and audits for their compliance. But these allegations involve the Appraisal Institute, not the states.

what...this whole thing is about how AI pass failed everyone on the same curve...but were required to conform to the states standards but keep trying :rof:

Again, AI conduct. Not necessarily the states themselves.

Even the plaintiff's atty commented about not thinking the AI was acting to deceive.

If your goal is to reform the appraisal institute, filing complaints with every state is a good way to force some accountability.
