These people have lost their minds. I got a letter from FNMA bc the neighborhood section in my report, on an appraisal of a house in a small town that happens to have a university, is named Southwest Baptist University.

FNMA says I can't say the word Baptist. Cited two reports in the area with the same verbiage (its canned) and that they would be monitoring my reports. Its reverse discrimination...the university's name itself is now a no no....

WHAT!?!?!?!?!? Anyone else get one of these?

Why even mention the name of the university. Does it have some significant impact on one part of the town. Even if it did what does the name have to do with it.

I often mention the largest employer in a town when describing. And Baptist Mission Road? Old Catholic Road? Church Street.

I have a major Honda plant in one of my areas. But I don't identify it as a Honda plant. It is a major auto and motorcycle manufacturing facility and the various supporting businesses. Same approach when in the neighborhood of The Ohio State University. I describe what it is not "who" it is.

'subject is within walking distance of XZY University' My town has 7-8 colleges universities. Each one has ridiculous prices and rental rates in the immediate vicinity that impact value/marketability. So the elephant in the room has to be called something its not or outright ignored?

I don't understand why context not matter? Read the sentence, which is just a quick three line synopsis of the town (manufacturing, colleges, hospitals, and subject's proximity/linkage to those businesses services, etc.,)

You do you and deal with the pushback. In the case of the 7- 8 in your town. It would appear that the location is a factor and one would think everything would be baked in in each of those neighborhoods. What bearing does the name have except to make it easier to describe. I agree that PC has gone awry. But it is what it is and how you deal with it is your choice. I would rather type another sentence or two as opposed to dealing with a letter from FNMA
