Can't recall CA having such a heinous ordinance not parking on the grass next to the driveway.
My tenants sometimes go over the grass instead of staying in the driveway.
It causes some damage to the lawn.
I would like to replace the lawn with artificial grass but because of the tenants' high probability in damaging the artificial grass, I continue having a lawn and have to deal with the gophers/voles.
And I have to go there once a month to do a half as* mow cutting of the lawn (too cheap to hire an immigrant). Ugh.
Just put a 1-3' concrete walk, or pavers, or decorative block right next to the driveway. I think that most landlords think that more mowable ground is not a positive factor on their rental properties. Give me the concrete jungle.
