I am not there yet, but getting close to 100% capacity on residential, and am thinking about hiring someone to do some basic form filling--not a trainee, just an employee. The grunt work if you will. I am fairly new myself still and cant have trainees the first 3 years anyway.

Anyone had success doing this? Any suggestions on where to look for candidates?

Any tips or potential traps to consider? I would still do the inspections, comp search and adjustments with comments, reconciliation, neighborhood description, and carefully review any report before submitting. I would prefer not to have that disclaimer that so and so did such and such work on the report. Is that statement even necessary if not working with a trainee?

A few times when I got way too busy I had my sister who lives 600 miles away set up my reports, sketch and pics.

I used Dropbox for everything. She downloaded my a la mode on her pc.

Point is. If you can open up to worldwide assistant, price of labor gets much cheaper.

What software do you utilize?

I've tried a few different options. The time needed to go back and forth, and then review the work, and then the extra accounting, negates any time savings. I've had better luck focusing on automation. Most software now has some data integration and then there are external services like Datamaster.

ask around your friends and family. my best assistant ever was a retired friend of the family. she worked a few hours a day doing things like processing new orders, pulling comp listings/public records, phones, scheduling appointments, etc. it worked out great for both of us until she and her husband moved to arizona
