MLS fees?

I'm looking at the bill right now.

$252 per year.

Gets me about a 200 miles radius from where I'm at. 6 counties.

$400 annual plus $60 month for an individual membership

I know that my MRIS fee is about $250/quarter (changed from per month on my first post) and that covers an ENORMOUS area... all 3 counties in DE, Washington DC, 25 counties in MD, 5 counties in NJ, 30 counties in PA, 97 counties in VA and 16 in W. VA. I guess that fee is bearable when I see it that way. I also have a TREND/MLS subscription which I don't remember what that fee is. I use that because it's the main MLS for service in Delaware/PA and sometimes MRIS doesn't have all of the info that TREND does.

Maybe I should get certified in DC/VA/WVA, also?

Well you are overpaying in Virginia as we only have 95 counties.

Our MLS is broad, the software MLX is awful, and we pay the same dues as a broker. That is, about $250/yr plus another $300 or so annual access fee. If I have a sub then they have to pay the $300 annual. I don't so i don't worry about it. It used to be a flat $15 per mo. +$50 annual for appraisers and there were competing MLS's that would allow you access to their MLS for as little as $10 a mo.
I could easily get my RE license, hang my shingle in my nephew's office and avoid the broker fees.
Our region needs a co-op, non-Realtor based system that everyone could use and the local boards would dry up and blow away.
