Our fine state has a true two party system which functions as a self-cleansing body as is evident in this story. Why don’t some of you attempt to achieve the same in your own wretched places?

Speaking about NC politicians, State Senator Marc Basnight's restaurant burned to the ground a couple nights ago. They are still investigating the cause. Personally, I hope he does rebuild. They had the best (and seriously expensive) she-crab soup. If you were to go there for lunch it was almost certain that you would need a nap afterwards. Good food, good prices and you wouldn't get a darn thing done at work afterwards.

Politics aside, Sen. Basnight really would jump right in and bus tables and take drink orders. I have respect for that.

An attempt at irony?

Mr. Mann speaking of wretched places, I can think of one that was before a guy named Rudy took the bull by the horns. We’ll trade you John Edwards for him and toss in a wide receiver and a punter, deal? :)

photo caption "Former House Speaker Jim Black leaves the federal courthouse in Raleigh after hearing his sentence of five years and three months in prison. Black, 72, had hoped to avoid time behind bars with a proposal to give free eye exams to the poor."

they can see clearly now - no exams necessary.
