"The appraiser searched back 10 years in this town. No events like this taken place. The appraiser has very limited resources to account for this event in this market. A market 1,000 miles away with this event does not best represent the subject.

Due to no data avail for paired sales. Market participants were interviewed. The market participants that put in an offer was weighted 90% as they put opionion to action. It is reasonable to use actionable reaction as a basis for an adjustment when no historic data points exist. An adjustment of $40k was applied. Based on said.... blah, blah. Use reasonable a lot. Done and done.

And just saw this was from a month ago. So wasted my time. Who's at fault? Me.

Owners tore down the entire apartment building where Jeffrey Daumer lived and stored his victims in the refrigerator/freezer. Tore it down within months of the arrest hitting the airwaves, as I recall.

What happened is that the victims' families wanted the building torn down and it was purchased by a city funded community group that bought it specifically to tear it down. I doubt that the Dahmer situation is really similar at all to a single murder suicide that occurred in a single family property.

Good riddance. I suspect the entire community didn't want to think of those crimes every time they passed the building. Better for the family, neighbors & city for it to disappear rather than becoming some goulish haunted location or something.

I'd be surprised at any impact beyond a couple of years except a particularly hideous or celebrity crime.
