My License Expires in September. How do I prevent that? I know this is a dumb question, but I've never worked for myself before.

The companies I have worked for always used to handle it. Please explain exactly what I have to do. It's hard to get information from government websites. The renewal form linked at the state website references 2019 USPAP so it can't be correct. Am I doing this too early?

Take 28 hours including USPAP, then file online? Are there any special circumstances this year because of the pandemic. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

My license is up 06/30/2021. I normally do my continuing ed January & February when there is no work. There was no slowdown this winter and before I knew it June was approaching and I was having a nervous breakdown due to excessive workload. Took 2 weeks off to do my online work. Plenty of time or so I thought. A really good friend came down with Covid and was hospitalized while I was trying to concentrate on my schoolwork. Then critters ate through my underground cable wire and I had no internet for 3 days. My printer stopped working. Found out another friend has stage 3 cancer and then my friend with Covid died. Finished my coursework 06/24/2021 and immediately went online to renew my license with the state. Online the info is updated but I do not have a hard copy of my license and have to wait to get in the mail. Get going with your coursework. Don't wait. I was a fool to wait until the last minute and will never do it again. Go online and research renew appraisers license in Illinois. Try McKissock or research continuing ed for appraisers in your state. There is a new USPAP edition so 2019 is no good.

Those are some cool companies!

Here in CA, its 8 hour USPAP every 2 years, and 52 hours CE every 4 years. That's about $400. Then the govt license renewal is about $700 now.

We get a reminder letter about 6 mos out.

Just check with your state (IL) regarding the requirements
I'm sure it can all be found online and to renew your license, I'm guessing, would also be available online
But as @norapp said above, I wouldn't wait until the last minute...you never know what may/may not happen
Good luck and welcome to "working for yourself" (y) :dancefool:

You will need to take the 28 hours CE including USPAP update, plus 1 hour sexual harassment training.

When renewal is open you can submit the application and payment online.

Get your CE out of the way as soon as possible. You do not want to wait til last minute on that. Not sure about your state, but ours provides a list of approved CE courses and providers for that state. I usually take from one provider with all the courses I need bundled, but on several occassions I have had to take individual courses from different providers. You may also need to take a course that is only provided in-person or virtual live on specific dates. That can take up more time too so don't wait. Start looking today!

I ain't there but if I recall there has been discussions before--get your CE in early or you may be dead in the water.

Funny I license in a state where I could start June 26th and have a license by the 29th. I also have a license in a state where the on line licensing is a byzantine maze of goobly-gook run out of the insurance department - an elected position. PITA.
