New Fair Housing CE requirement?

I received an email that Fair Housing will be a new CE requirement. It was an AI email, not sure if it will only be a requirement for AI members, although it did say that it will require a 7-hour class after 2026 per AQB, which makes me think that everyone will be required to take it. Will it be in excess of the 29-hours that we are required to take every two years or would it be part of the 21-hours of non-USPAP classes?

I think it’s in addition to the 2026 requirement. I took a 4-hour last year from AI (Frank Gregoire) and someone in the education department told me to go in and add it manually. That took care of me for the current cycle. I apparently missed the memo.

Fair housing is old hat. Been around for decades. If you don't understand it by now. No amount of CE is going to change that

That is a really sad testimonial. What did you learn the last time that probably the vast majority of other appraisers already understand

Since all the political hoopla about Bias, the NAR mandated it last year for RE; although I can remember back in the 80's being required to take classes during my early Real Estate days (I still hold a License), but over the past 30 years have taken more classes than I care to think about.
IMO- either you get it or you don't.........KISS methods for years.

Always makes me wonder how many attempted loans are turned down based on a color (all) nutshell.

In the past year, I've taken two ethics classes from separate organizations to keep my designations active, a sexual harassment class that is required by IL, a USPAP class, and am now required to take this. I was thinking that after they took a couple years off for COVID, USPAP update classes would become less frequent, and instead, we have to take more of this type of education.
