When I first saw the new display, I thought I was just done because it was painful to try to read. It can't be work because we already spend so much time on screens. Then, in response to Tres, the view was expanded and it was better. I could never look at it on a cell, which is good for everyone since I would probably post in the wrong thread (astigmatism is a prankster). Now, across my larger screen it is readable, but there is still something that makes it hard work. I can't quite tell, maybe needs more bold! Or cowbell.
As for the Likes, well, stowing it like this is an improvement. I came back after a couple years to find the Like plan fully in play and it was weird, though interesting to think about in terms of interpersonal dynamics. I disagree that conspicuous Like tallies encourage participation, except among a few. Many more posters probably have something to say but may not engage because of the high like counts of others already in the thread. Likes often simply reflect popularity among the poster's generous cohort. Friends/allies voting together. Mostly, I find it acts as a substitute for writing an actual reply, which would be participation. So to encourage participation from more people, please keep it like this, discoverable, but down a few levels.
