Waited a month in agony with sciatica for an orthopedic doc appointment but my insurance was denied. Weird.. I gave them my info a month earlier when I made the appointment their response was, sorry. No worry, this pain is merciless I'll just pay cash. Sorry, we don't take cash when you have insurance... what? you don't take my insurance and won't take my cash bc I have insurance you won't take? Yes. Next!

The rage coursing through my veins could power a small city lol what a freaking clown show

Call Elon....

Sorry to hear about your pain....
A former neighbor/friend had back nerve pain and he had surgery last July....
He says he's recovering well....
Good luck, Dig....

Try the chiropractor and see if they can diagnose where the pain originated. I have a benign tumor inside my backbone that presses against the spinal cord, but it wasn't the problem. My sciatica ultimately was related to my sacroiliac and isn't really sciatica. But it mimics it. A chiropractor can treat the sacroiliac by laying you on your side, pulling your knee up under your chin and shoving down... sometimes it pops like a shotgun....well, not that loud but feels like it. An old chiropractor I knew didn't use that method but used sandbags and laid you out like he wanted then placed the sandbags (or maybe lead shot, something heavy) in certain locations and left you there 30 minutes or more. I've known others who used acupuncture.

I put up with that pain for six months after crashing and burning in my garage, right in the middle of the pandemic. I was afraid to go to the hospital so I let it heal naturally. Real b*tch.

That's what I am facing after hyper-extending a knee. I am so full of arthritis it is bone to bone contact in the knee. It limits the amount of time I can spend on my feet. Affects bending over as the knee cap can pop out since I have trick knees to go with it (subluxation of the patella) So, I am still limping around, taking pain pills, and its been 2 full months since I fell. Some days not so back. Others are terrible. A cold front passed through yesterday and I ached all night.

I've dealt with back pain off and on for years.
Keep moving. I found a couple of stretches that really help. I do these in the shower...warm water does wonders...

1) Put one foot about 18" ahead of the other and lean forward keeping your back straight, bending at the waist. You'll feel a stretch in your hams. Hold for 30 sec. Repeat a couple of times switching feet.

2) Do a deep squat and push off using your whole foot, not just the ball or toes. At full stand tighten your core by trying to suck your navel back to your spine. Hold for 20-30 sec. Do 3-5 times.

Try for a couple of days and see if it helps.
These 2 stretches have given me more relief than anything else I've tried.
Good luck.

Constant low grade pain can be unbearable....

I've had back issues for many years. I had it under control until I lifted something I should not have last summer. It was downhill from there.

MRI shows buldging disks, stenosis, arthritis and scoliosis causing sciaticia. Doc (back surgeon) asked about the pain level. I told him its like someone sticking an ice pick in my butt and then setting my pants on fire. He said he'd call it a 10. He gave me steroid shots in the L3L4 disk which have helped. Also, occasional pain pill, Tramadol 50 mg. Also he said to try Turmeric with Curcumin, about 2,000 mg/day and occasional ibuprofen when needed. Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory.

The burning pain is now just a dull ache, not bad. I can live with it if the only option left is spinal fusion. Also, yoga stretching and core muscle strengthening will help.

Good Luck!!

PS Heat feels good but will exacerbate the inflammation thats causing the disc swelling. Heat is for muscles, cold is for joints.
