how about 504a for them. the postal system makes the address delivery not the owner. 504 will always go to you by the mailman. i have never seen postal anything go change easily.
They only want #504. :-/

Wow. How are the utilities billed? (unless they are included). I ask because when I worked for the Assessor, we would have to call Memphis, Light, Gas & Water "house numbers" if U.S. Postal Service didn't have it. They had the 911 address. I say if you were there first, you have "dibs" on 504, but after all you've been through, I can why you're doing what you're doing, but if your title work says 504, you're at a stalemate. What a nightmare!
This person acutally used thier deed which added the note "known as 504" (just like ours says) and manipulated some customer support agent at our power company into thinking that entitled them to our suite number, which the power gave to THEM without even consulting us, and added a f'in "B" to ours. I threw a fit and sent them all the layers of documentation reflecting the whole issue, our permitting with the City and our title and raged about how they they had essentially given away our suite number without even f'ing talking to us. Their "compromise" for this was to name their property 504A and our 504B. Neither of which are valid USPS addresses. The layers of f*ckery going on here is nuts.
I havent even gotten into how they called the City and tried to have our permitting number changed to 505. (Again, an address that does not exist with USPS). This person is a real peach.
Thank you for the empathy! It *is* a nightmare.

Lol...."take over" the use of your suite number?? Why would you even consider such a ridiculous request?? Tell them to pound sand. It's not up to you or them to change the legal description of the property.

You guys are going to be on the Fear Thy Neighbor TV show judging from the length of your post....
We had no idea the pandora's box of cray we were opening by allowing a dialogue. Just trying to be decent to our new neighbor since we understood the root issue. It only got ridiculous when we said "no" and they said, "oh well, sucks for you - good luck changing to 505" (paraphrasing).

Why don't you compromise and one get number 504A and other get 504B (Not 504 solely for clarification sake).
I have a property and ground floor was partitioned decades ago so one is called 100 and 100A Main Street (name change for Fernando's sake).
It worked well until I went to permits and city was confused with my address. That will be a problem.....

File a change of address with USPS to your 'new' address and sign up for Informed Delivery. Maybe a couple of them. Eventually USPS will figure it out. "Condo" declarations don't mean anything.

There is situs, UPS, FedEx, utility, city, assessor, Amazon, delivery, shipping, and USPS addresses....and they all have different recognized data bases. Depending.....on who you are trying to get to deliver. You could confuse USPS and use one of two addresses and then add "# and the desired number." I've lived in an area for the last 30-years that doesn't have mail 'home delivery' by USPS, and UPS created a gap in their addressing. You can't change the system, but you can screw with it.

Once again, the "legal description" of your condo, their condo, and everyone's else's condo, within the complex has the unit number assigned to it. End of story. The postal service can't just arbitrary assign a new number for you.

Go to the planning department of your municipality and pull the documentation for your complex, you'll see. Hand a copy to your new dumb a** neighbors and they'll see too.

When I purchased my home, it was best time to change my home address number. Certain cultures have favorable numbers.
Just like US, some scare of 13th floor or 666.
It required additional effort and work to change the number. I was too lazy.

if you are absolutely sure you will win, go to small claims court. doesn't cost that much, might be a good 1st victory.
