I went back and reviewed this thread from the point that Jeremy entered. Indeed, I was the one who first made it personal.
Jeremy, I apologize for taking liberties with the spelling of your last name and inferring that you were not who or what you said you were.
I really did mean well as I could read between the lines of your post and see where you had missed an important concept.
Like you said, the law is 99% interpretation and USPAP is no different. However, the consequences are brutal if you misinterpret either.
There is a quote, often mis-attributed to Mark Twain, that goes:
"When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years."
When I first started reading USPAP I thought, "this stupid book makes no sense. It must have been written by monkeys pounding on the typewriter keys." Well, now a couple of years later and I'm astonished at how much clearer "they" have made this book.
