Sending out newsletters via snail mail is effective, of course, but if you have individuals who are no longer interested in your newsletter you may wind up spending money for postage and printing for people who are just throwing them out.
Anthony, I just now saw your post. I debated this point for a long time before I decided on snail mail. I found two advantages that out-weighted email.

1. Paper lays around on the desk. Someone else can see it and read it, it can be passed on others and copied, posted on office bulletin boards etc. In other words it gets handled.

2. Email is quickly deleted and most people are not very computer literate. With the Spam epidemic that most unsavy Internet surfers face my newsletter will look like another piece of junk mail. And since it really needed to be a PDF file so I could keep my formating looking like I wanted that meant it was an attachment...... Meaning it will be gone quicker than a sheet of paper on a desk and there is virtually no chance of someone seeing it and picking it up and reading it. An email is not going to end up in the Lobby of a business.

What cemented my choice was realizing if and email was something I wanted to keep guess what? I print it.
