Oil Price Increases After Biden Shuts Down Drilling Permits Again

I got gas at Costco at $5.45/gallon today which was higher than $5.29/gallon few days ago. Prices fluctuate as expected from last week from $96 to $105 and now back to $96 so I expect gas to drop again. Never seen such volatility in gas prices.

Gas buddy is saying expect it to drop another $0.50 soon. I don't who made them experts, but I guess they have experts on staff.

I know some people that run a bunch of inventory with trucks and cars. They had no choice but to jack their prices in order to cover their overhead.

That's weird to me how gas is that much higher in CA. The highest I see in TN is in upper $4.00 range. I don't think I have seen anything over $5.00.

You take $3.85 at sam's yesterday vs $5.45. That's $1.60 a gallon difference. That's big. I don't understand why the big difference. Idk. Maybe shipping costs or distributors marking it up.

Those big trucks bringing it to the tanks have to cover their costs and those trucks are paying more to get it to the pump in CA than TN. Those big trucks are buying fuel locally in CA. Same as TN.

Don't kid yourself. They are ramping up gasoline production to get the Feds off their butt and as a consequence less oil for petrochemicals which are seeing higher prices. Now that demand is falling, the surplus gasoline is being sold off. Secondly to increase supply they are allowing winter blends of gasoline, which has a real emissions problem as a lot of it evaporates on a hot day and add to that a higher percent of ethanol is allowed. Those last two hurt air quality but the administration is smart enough to know it won't matter as the public is too ignorant to know the difference.

I don't understand the big difference also. Could be higher blend of gasoline? Could be lack of refineries? High gas taxes of 53+ cents taxes don't account for the discrepancies.
When gas prices high, I hear state government on investigating the Big Gas Companies for charging too high. Sounds good but I never learn the results of the finding.
