And one other thing, the Shields test is not 100% accurate. It may say you failed because they want to invest in their services. But unless you get an open (red) port consider your self protected.
When you run the test you give that program permission to identify your personal indentifier. HUH?

With Outlook Express I have found that if your Browser is not active it does not want to work.

That is, if you launch it from your desktop before,, say going "online" (like coming to the forum) it just sits there. Try being actively on the "Internet" before launching Outlook.

If you run windows xp outlook keeps its files in the C:\Documents and Settings\zzz\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\**{114FA776-0C11-4F5A-95D7-A70C85CA0AAF}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

the XXXX is where you have your user folder.
then in the Identites folder there will be a folder with a bunch of numbers perhaps more than one you will have to look at them to see which one it is.
Make sure that you are able to view hiden files and system files. You can change that setting under the tools pulldown then choose folder options and under the view tab.

if you are running windows 98 I think it is under the C:\program files\Application Data\Identities\**{114FA776-0C11-4F5A-95D7-A70C85CA0AAF}\Outlook Express folder.

**in the Identies folder there will be a different alpha numeric folder for everyone.

Sorry to say this will not allow you to edit files here but what you can do is make a copy of you in box and then erase the inbox.dbx and then try to open outlook and see if it works if not then ?????

my largest .dbx files are about 75MB on my laptop

Thank you Justin!!!!!!! I have all those message from Outlook Express saved to a CD and a folder on my desktop. Then went into C:\documents and setting\Jo Ann\local settings\applicating\identies\***************\microsoft\outlook express file and deleted all message. Now outlook express works!!!! And all my messages and addresses are also saved over in Netscape. So I have backups all over the place. I had grey hair on Monday morning--now I have pure white hair and am almost bald after all the nervous breakdown I have had for the past four days!!

Again--many, many thanks to everyone that posted suggestions. I think I now know how to at least turn my computer on now!

I have honestly never seen one. In Arizona the only condos are subdivisions that have a horizontal property regime clause in the subdivision restrictions. In Arizona if that clause is not there and there is a mandatory homeowners association fee--then it is a PUD, not a condo. Don Clark talks about manufactured home condo subdivisions in VA--maybe he has an answer.

But I think it does boil down to reading the subdivision CC&Rs and then applying what ever your state laws are regarding a condo versa a PUD. Assessor's records and zoning offices are NOT resources for determining if a subdivision has condo ownership or PUD ownership.

Jo Ann,
thank you for you answer. I am nots sure if it is a PUD or a Condo so fat everything I have it is a condo so when I get more info from the HOA.
is when I will make my final decision.

thank you again,
Justin

Jo Ann,

I know I'm late to the discussion but I had the same problem. I could not pull up any 'sent' messages...It said out of memory. That's because the file folder it puts them into was full.

Now I regularly empty my 'deleted', 'inbox' and 'sent' folders in Outlook.

Glad you were able to get it fixed....

I figured out the problem with Outlook & Outlook Express....

they both SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <_<

It seems both have limited memory and when it gets full, it not only locks up the mail programs but makes everything else on my computer run slow too. How annoying.

ummm folks?

there is a setting that you can use to move e-mails into a saved folder... On my system I do this about every 6-10 months.

Emptying your delete bin once in a while is a good idea... those just 'go away' instead of being saved for reasons I have never had occasion to use but twice... but on those two occasions having the emial copies was worth GOLD...

FYI Whatever is giving those systems fits at present is atypical and probably unrelated to hwo much stored messages you happen to have

make very sure you don't have any viruses or bugs of any kind...

Running some ofthe spyware and 'bad stuff removal seems to have alleviated MY problems.

good luck!
