Somehow I got some annoying malware installed on my Windows 10 PC. I tried to get into Safe Mode from Update and Settings, Recovery, Troubleshoot and ReStart but it wouldn't go into Safe Mode. Then, I got the brillant idea to change the boot in Msconfig and now, it doesn't even load the graphics driver so I have a black screen with no cursor. The best part is I can't find my recovery drive.

Which antivirus software and cloud backup systems do you run?

I use Defender only. I don't use the PC for anything but doing the books and my writing for the most part.and I suspect either my wife or her assistant picked up some malware farting around on Facebook market or whatever. Ticks me off.

It's a decent gamer platform, just needs to be upgraded to 11, which means new motherboard, cpu, gpu, blah, blah.

Pop out your hd and plug it into a docking station and scan/fix on another computer. While the os wont work, you can get access to your files after cleaning out the virus.

I'm in the process of building a new gaming tower too. I'm staring at an unopend aorus xtreme 3080 collecting dust just waiting to get used lol.

Don't forget a new power supply while you're at it. That's why I bought a new alienware, power supply went out on my old one and the new one I ordered from Amazon (which was supposed to be a direct replacement) didn't have all the outputs I needed. It lasted eight years though, and I think it's just going to spend the remainder of its days in my computer boneyard.

I've got dual ssd's, so theoretically I could load a clean install of 10 on the backup and use that while I clean the other with a deep scan. Thankfully, I upgraded to Microsoft 365 and Quickbooks Online.

I just upgraded my work laptop (W10 x360 excellent computer) to a new Omni X with a G5 docking station (gamechanger). I had office 13 on the old computer and dont want a subscription, so im looking for office 24 (supported till 2029).

Pro tip: install Malwarebytes on every Windows machine and uBlock Origin on every browser you make eye contact with:
