Hi All,
In the current environment I am far busier than I want to be. I am coming into problems with scheduling and the immediacy that borrowers are requiring. This Saturday morning I tried to help a realtor who had to have a sooner appointment due to appraisal contingencies in the contract. I made the appointment with her on Thursday for Saturday morning at 9 am, could not be earlier, could not be later because of her Open House Schedule for the day.
I was on time, took photos, measured the front and waited for her, but could not wait long because I had more appointments immediately lined up. I called her at 9:05 and she said that the owner was there and that she would call into them. I told her that if the door didn't open in 10 minutes I was leaving. I stood outside of the house and waited, knowing no one was going to open the door, so at 9:13 I left. She called and asked if anyone had let me in, I said no and that I had left the house. She was enraged, telling me that she was disappointed in me, that she was an hour away, that she's busy too, yada yada yada. Then told me she wanted a different appraiser, which I agreed was a good idea and she hung up on me.
She calls back less than five minutes later wanting to know how I would handle declining the assignment, worried about what I would say???? I told her that it's not a big deal, that I would simply tell the AMC there was a conflict. Well, she is still worried about her closing date and contingencies so she wants to reschedule the appointment and it has to be set right now (again with the "right nows"). I told her I would call back when I was in my office, she makes sure that I will call back today and that was it.
My problem is that she scheduled this appointment for her schedule and then passed it off to someone else, who I don't even know or have the contact information for, and then is mad at me when it got messed up. What is the best professional response? I do not do well with confrontation and I am honestly dreading meeting this person and even calling her back. What would you do?
