Gee, I don't know about this. This only hurts the borrower.
If this was a refi and the homeowner stood me up, that's a different thing entirely and adding a trip fee may be in order. But an agent standing me up and me penalizing the borrower? Probably not something I would do.
I totally agree that our time isn't free. Unfortunately, in this case, if we were to assess a trip fee, the only person it would injure is the borrower/purchaser, a person who is NOT at fault in this situation and is not, in fact, a participant. Maybe his/her agent is a participant, but the borrower is not.I see your point, but as I said in my earlier post, our time isn't free! From what I read in the OP, it sounded like the homeowner was supposed to be there, too, along with the agent, and neither were there. I'm assuming this was a purchase, since an agent was involved. I'd also like to assume the OP would've at least knocked on the door as well (unknown from what I read) That is something I would have (and have) done in that situation (unless specifically told NOT to do that in the assignment conditions)...
...........She was enraged, telling me that she was disappointed in me, that she was an hour away, that she's busy too, yada yada yada......
Go back tomorrow and add $100 for a missed appointment.
