mandatory USPAP classes do nothing to change the ethics of many appraisers

Too bad. So many I know NEVER apply what they should have learned. Like a ***** in church, they sweat thru USPAP class with troubled looks and trembling paws. But after getting thru the class the guilt melts away and its back to relativism....everyone is doing it, i am only trying to make a living, my client will bolt, its more trouble that it is worth to defend myself, its so close..., etc. etc.

PS - DOUG, that was almost a book, like Zen and the art of Appraising?

While mandatory classes can't instill ethics they can affirm the position of the ASB. It also eliminates the excuse of "well I never heard that before".

My favorite excuse heard while training and being told why we were doing things that were wrong. "This is a business decision, which precludes any other decision". What good reasoning.
