hi AF, looking for an excellent course covering REO work assignments. i used to do these appraisals about 8 years ago, would like an update before i accept any assignments, online course would be best. If you know of such a course can you so kindly pass on the name, or link. thank u very much jules

The AI has just rolled out a new seminar on REO appraisal. It was taught for the first time last week. Many chapters are adding this to their schedule. I suggests checking the AI web site for an offering near you.

McKissock has an online course for $79 (5hrs of CE) that covers appraising REO and Foreclosures.

I took the AIs first course, it was ok...rather basic.

The new AI course focuses on fundamentals as well. But, I have found that many students need it. (I have taught the seminar twice)

For example, many of the students had been totally overlooking the fact that some REO assignments require using something other than Market Value as the standard of value.

Like I said, rather basic...but good for the droves of people who think that they can just jump in. For those people, I am sure glad a class exists. For us other folk that have been doing these for a lot of years I really wish there was some more advanced application type stuff.

JVI offers a course too. They are an REO servicer run by some appraisers in the southeast. I met them at a user conference and they seemed like good people. They just got their course approved for CE in most states (prior to this you just had to pay for the course in order to receive work from them).

Has anyone taken the REO course from McKissock? Any good?
