I took the live course about 3 or 4 years ago and wasn't that impressed. I am partial to AI courses, so I would recommend that if you are in the area that one of the nine courses are being offered and you are in need of a good foundation for REO, you might consider these. As noted, DWiley is one of the instructors so you might get away with asking him about a question.

I took the McKissock class two weeks ago in Phoenix and brought one of my staff guys with me. The one good thing we got out of it (and we do a ton of this work currently so it might be more beneficial to people not doing as much), is that we need narrative reports making extraordinary assumptions reconciling each value opinion based on gridded out comps. Essentially... you are looking at a possible 12 comp scenario if you meet the criteria for each of the value opinions. It was an eye opener. It would take a little longer than I have to answer your question in this post, but if you PM me, then I'll give you my number and we can talk about it. After the class, I immediately called my old boss from Forsythe to see why our training differed with respect to the training offered up in class. He spoke to Alan Hummel and clarified what the USPAP-instructor/McKissock had stated on how far we needed to go with the comps.

It was clear in the classes I taught that some (many) students were not adequately supporting all the value conclusions in their appraisal reports.

Many were deriving a market value and then just stating a "quick sale" value without (1) providing a definition of "quick sale" value or (2) summarizing the analysis that led to that "quick sale" value. [both of which are required by USPAP]

Nothing like getting instruction from one of the best. Especially since you cant charge more then the others.

hi AF, looking for an excellent course covering REO work assignments. i used to do these appraisals about 8 years ago, would like an update before i accept any assignments, online course would be best. If you know of such a course can you so kindly pass on the name, or link. thank u very much jules

I recommend the JVI course. It is a requirement if you ever want to do work for them.
