Restaurant Reset

In the last government shutdown, it took the chaos at the airports to end the shutdown. Trump figures making it less convenient for travelers will have same effect.
TSA PreCheck benefits all travelers in speeding the lines.
I'm glad TSA PreCheck has been suspended but when I come back from Europe, no Global Entry will cause delay for me to get back to US. Ugh.

MO the effects of minimum wage hikes accrue across the entire food supply chain
Exactly. Add fuel costs, supply chain issues that remain, and exactly when did waitresses earn 25% tips, especially in almost fast food settings. I remember going to some burger shop and you had to order on a tablet at the table. No waiter or waitress, then they brought out your drinks and someone else brought out the food. I remember when 10% was standard and 15% then became common. Suddenly in 2021 it was 25%. Never mind that in Europe leaving a tip is virtually an insult.

Most restaurants I go to now have receipt in which you can check 18%, 20%, or Custom. When did tips start at 18%?
I don't bother figuring out 15% for custom so I just check 18%.

Nando---you bein' a sucker!
Good service is always appreciated, and rewarding lousy service with generous tips is rewarding bad behavior... which will ultimately result in more 'entitled' bad behavior. "No, Ms/Mr Server. If you want my generous tip, be pleasant, get the food out on time, pay attention to whatever my table clearly needs (be it water, napkin, mo' WINE) or whatever. And you will see your service grade in the tip column."

Minimum has always been 15%. Depending on how great the service, customer can pay more.
It's just easy to check minimum of 18%.
The issue is why bill depends on the price.
Sometimes I get better service when total bill is $50 than $100 more expensive restaurant.
I'm thinking of going to this 1 star Michelin restaurant with 3 course lunch special. Maybe their service is much much better?

My son & I stumbled upon this tucked away 2nd floor gem in SoCAL. Honestly, it was the BEST SERVICE I've had in many years, attentive (not intrusive), pleasant, aware of where we were in our dining experience. We had a lot to catch up on, and the waitress didn't rush us. Food was exceptional also, and they had a good selection of wines. Ambience was excellent inside & out, and we enjoyed the balcony dining room and views. It's located between San Diego and Lake Elsinore right off the (15). Super experience!

I actually used that property as a comparable in one of my assignments a couple year back. And I appraised it at one point a long time ago. My first commercial assignment was a multi-tenant retail located a couple blocks away. I've appraised several properties in the neighborhood over the years. It's crazy how much redevelopment they've done there.

They used to have the Greek Fest in the immediate area, but last year it was in the Mall off Inez. Big Venue. Music, dancing, lotsa Greek food.
