"Return of Appraiser" document?

I was told that Patel is Indian for "hotel owner". Either that's true or it's just the greatest coincidence of the century because almost every hotel sale I've ever seen was Mr. Patel selling to Mr. Patel. Anyone else notice that trend?

OMG.....My MAI mentor and I had that discussion about Patel's owning Motels last time we did one (March 2007).

TODAY (I swear!!!!!!), I am confirming a land sale and am eventually routed to a phone number. The phone number is a motel, and the owner is named Patel, and the land sale is for a new hotel.

I've heard it means "Inn Keeper." Yes, I've seen it for years. Maybe east Indian hotel owners change their names when they buy one. "When you buy one, you "R" one." LOL

I do not know why they call it that, but what it is is a notarized Affidavit signed by the appraiser that goes with the appraisal so the appraiser does not have to go to court and state the value of the appraisal to record.
